There is only one webcomic that I love more than Vampirates, and it's called Airshell. Whe I first read it the art kinda bothered me a bit but the plot was so amazing none of that mattered. I was obsessed with Airshell and was always on the Airshell Forum when in was reformed around the end of the summer in 2007 I think. (The artist's comics were all hacked and the forums too and so she had to entirely rebuild the whole comic website and the forums, while producing her comic)
Sadly in this past November, about the beginning-middle of the month, the website went down with just a message saying she'll be back at the end of the month. But it wasn't back and it's still down but the comic is so good I'm still waiting for it to come back. I was already following Vampirates when Airshell went down, so I'm still following this but I'm more asking if any one here was also an Airshell fan too. My friend has bought the little Airshell comic books so she might be able to scan them so you all could read them since lia always had them up for everyone to read for free, but I can't guarantee anything. But Airshell was published by a company called American Anime Productions or something like that so you could buy them if you want. The comic was really good and I loved the characters. I love Rene' the most, he's so not twisted yet twisted, and Ari who's just a latently suicidal ---I forget the word that goes here--- logician. It's brilliant. It's crazy but not hyper. I love Airshell, and I hope it comes back soon. you'll know when it comes back, because I'll be all Airshell at that time. ^_^

I'd been meaning to read that comic for quite some time, but never got around to it before the site went down... I've been watching the artist on DevArt for even longer, though, and I believe that she was in a car accident which led to the impromptu shutdown. It is planning to come back, though. Anyway... I'm glad someone mentioned HERO before I had to, it has some of the most amazing webcomic art I've ever seen, as well as a one-of-a-kind storytelling method. Some other comics I follow (which haven't been mentioned yet) are Terinu, a science-fiction story with consistent art to match; Girl Genius, a whimsical steampunk tale about mad science, and Zebra Girl, which stars off as a humour comic but lately has turned into something rather darker. Unfortunately, the updates for this last one have been comic rather infrequently of late, but the archives are immense and the art is incredibly detailed and consistent. Girl Genius updates regularly and Terinu less often but still going.

Got linked to Rice Boy just last night; it started off as an exercise in surreality, apparently, and evolved into something incredible. It's really weird and oddly cute, somehow-- the designs for the creatures and characters are really unique. It's not in the same vein as most of the other webcomics that have been recced here-- it's a lot more surreal and 'artsy', in a way-- but it's awesome nonetheless.

I read faaaar too many webcomics to keep track. I like to cycle between them so I always have something to catch up on. Right now I'm waiting for Crowfeathers to come back. And I'm looking for a link to a comic of sorts that Jones had a link to a while ago. It wasn't exactly a sequential comic, just a bunch of rough strips but it was about two guys going on a road trip of some sort? I can't remember the name at all! Only that at one point there was Goodwill incident....
Help?

Speaking of webcomics, anyone know a good crime webcomic to recommend? Looking for: good characterisation, well-done storyline and at least some creativity. All the really interesting ones like PI and Prin Files stopped updating. =/ The only good one I know of right now is Heidi, Geek Girl Detective. Artwork is meh but the writing: holy gods. It's on par with some of the really good crime novels I've ever read. Mainly 'cos the writer gets all her facts right. And doesn't dump all the details on your head, either. www.planetheidi.com/index.html

I was reading the Juathuur description. It took me so long to find out that it didn't say "religious people who dwell on the raft, and their deserts." I was imagining some sort of priests eating chocolate, and ice cream, strawberries and cookies on a raft and then reality hit...

I'm sure some of you have already heard of some of these, but maybe there will be something someone hasn't read and will like RELIABLE UPDATES, TWICE A WEEK TWO PAGES EACH. Also, she always finishes her comics The Phoenix RequiemToast!unfortunately does not update regularly, but worth reading StraysParadoxuncensored yaoi, awesome humor. Regular updates.
