I just went back and reread the whole Vampirates comic so far, and it's so hard to think of Clyde as a 19 year old. IDK why maybe because he's just so darn cute?
Does he have that affect on anyone else?

I dunno... I see him as a nineteen year old, but that could just be because I myself act in much the same way. So, I guess I'm just more used to it? He's just a genuinely sweet guy--though I totally get what you mean. I could see how he'd be mistaken for someone younger. I'm willing to bet he gets carded all over the place.

I think it's his slightly childish personality, yeah. But think about it: there are a ton of characters like that, where you forget their age. Examples: Ryuichi in Gravitation (you wouldn't peg him as any older than 18, but they guy is pushing 30!) or Ichigo in Bleach (witness as fangirls in their late teens/early twenties swoon over a fifteen year old boy). I'm slightly hyperactive, and short to boot, so no one ever really puts me at 20 (one guy at work thought I was in Grade 10 or 11).

About the Ichigo deal, japanese mangaka have the weird habit of giving their characters completely unbelievable age. For example, None of the main characters of Pokemon are over 15. I think Team Rocket is the oldest, Jesse and James being both 13 (yet they drive tanks and submarines and shit), while Ash is 11 (still, after like 10 years of the show running) and never went to school. Then there's Tenjou Tenge, where the main characters, all high school freshmen, deal with rape and murder all the time.
Manga characters look and act a lot older than they usually are, so you can't tell just by the numbers.
Vampirates is no exception, Murphy and Hassan don't look 150 and 90. =o

Clover: IDK why but for somereason you always struck me as one of thoes really mature people that didn't really like/approve of childish behavior. NO OFFENSE! I just took you to be one of thoes big sisterish kind of gal's who people come to for serious advice and stuff. I was wrong, oh well . @bubbles: OMG Ash and all them are under 15? I always assumed that Jesse and James were around the age of 20 just because the way that they act and stuff. Gosh isn't 13 a little young to be using all that hi-tech stuff? As for Ash being 11 all I've got to say is "wow" haha he's been through alot for an eleven yr old kid. >>I just have to say that since their Vampires and don't change in apperance that much of course they won't look old. XD

I never really got that about anime. They wear pretty much the same thing throughout the whole series, they don't age even though it's been running for several years... What the crap? Don't get me wrong, I love anime, but... What the crap?

I'm not sure Pokemon's the best example, though. I mean, it's a kid's show, so the characters tend to be younger. With something like Bleach, it's geared at older teens, which in most cases means the characters themselves are older teens or beyond, into their 20s (16+). Vampires have to be the worst example you could ever use.

Not at all, it's an excellent example. Bleach isn't aimed toward young adults, it was made firstly for japanese highschoolers.

....who ARE young adults. Japanese highschoolers are aged 16-18.

Yes, I just want to hug him and be "omgursocute let's play dress up!" until I realise he's older then me and could probably take me. Because I support the "Clyde is a badass" theory.
