I've seen Apokalypto, haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth yet... what I don't get it why it was called Apokalypto... it wasn't much of an apokalypse... and yes i know I've spelled apokalypse wrong about thfour times now...

Allow me to suggest Ichi the Killer, Amelie and for those of you with more refined tastes: Strange Brew.

*grins* I'll have to see if I can somehow get it... I laugh at horror films, though, hope you don't mind if I do...

Apocalypto was chosen because it has to do with the end of an era-- not THE traditional Christian Book-Of-Revelations Apocalypse.. Apocalypse is a Greek word meaning 'to reveal the unknown; to reveal', and has come to colloquially mean 'the end'. In this context, its talking about the end of the Mayan era. ^_^
Pan's Labyrinth is gorgeous and beautiful. I love the movie, the plot, the storyline, and the music. Incidentally, its a very Spanish-y fairy tale. At least, the hispanoamerican culture I'm from [as opposed to Siggy], sort of...prizes the ambiguous/bittersweet endings. I think that's true with most of the Spanish cultures, but again, I wouldn't know, not having lived in that many. XD Pale Man was brilliant, El Fauno was gorgeous, and Mercedes is possibly one of my favourite characters ever.

It's not horror. It's....sweet, sweet gore.

I can't stand Amelie, though not for any conventional reason. Merely because I was forced to sit through it four times in two weeks in French class. Objectively, though, it is awesome.

I think I could handle that. I become obsessive with things I'm fond of, sometimes. Usually it's with songs but Pan's Labyrinth did it to me too. I watched it six times while I had it rented. I had it for two days. Also, I have (probably an illegal) crush on Ofelia. She is a gorgeous girl D=
