Alrighty, So I've always really wanted to contribute to this section but have been kind of nervous because there's so many amazing artists here. But last night while utterly procrastinating studying for my Latin test that was this morning I thought "screw it, let's try something" Please be nice this is an uber amount of firsts for me. First time playing with acrylics, first time painting anything, first time ever posting fanart, first time trying shading. As much as I love art if only ever done like a handful of doodles in the past. But ya, that being said, seeing as I have no clue what I'm doing any constructive criticism greatly loved. and ya...there's a tree....I had left over paint so thus it was born.

Aww, it's awesome! Especially with acrylics! I hate acrylics, unless I'm applying them to something three-dimensional, like, I dunno, a birdhouse. I love the definition you managed to get around the mouth. So much depth there! My painting always looks flat, even my watercolour (what I use when I have to paint). I will forever be a fan of coloured pencil. Next time (assuming, of course, that there will be a next time... and there'd better be, because this is great), try adding a bit more highlight to the hair; there's nothing terribly wrong with it, per se, it's just lacking a bit of definition.
Tree FTW.

Nice job, acie! I'm jealous of you for 1) having acrylics (all I've got is this massive container of black) and 2) having the guts to experiment with them.
What were you painting on?

thanks guys! I've got acrylics because my sister signed up me, my dad, and her to all take a beginner's acrylic painting class together so my dad and I went out and bought supplies yesterday. It was just a blank page in a sketch book I have that I painted a layer of this gesso stuff on then painted on that. I figured due to the fact I'm experimenting I didn't want to waste any expensive canvas boards or what-have-you.

Ooh, I love the colour! I just want to pet her hair. :D
Acrylics are painful ... but fun. They never seem to want to fill all of the white spots in, especially on canvas or rough paper. It's an abusive relationship.
