Anybody see/read/hear about any new series, books, TV, or otherwise, that sound good? I recently finished up the latest DVD of the Baccano anime (which is fucking awesome) and the next DVD doesn't come out till mid-June, so I'm trying to find something else to fill my attention right now.
And please don't say Twilight. Nothing against, but been there, done that.

Nothing really new. I've been staffing the manga library at Anime Boston, which has given me the chance to catch up on some old series. xxxHolic and Saiyuki are always good. <3

Heh. Well, yes, they are good, but for Saiyuki, I own both the entire anime (not Gunlock or anything because I didn't like the new dubs), and all of the mangas that have been released so far.
And XXXholic I've read too.
I was sad with this year's spring releases. Aside from Sengoku Basara and 07 Ghost there's nothing I was really interested in.
Maybe it's a sign I should find something other than anime to indulge in for a while.

What kinds of animes and mangas do you like Blade-kun? I recently started watching one - Sayonara Zetsubou sensei. From what I've seen it's quite funny, dark humour.

Oh, I like just about anything, if it's done right. I LOVE gore, but not so much horror.
Baccano is my recent favorite. It is an AMAZING series. More people need to watch it.
I tend to be into the less ridiculously popular series. Some of my favorite animes include Innocent Venus, Ghost Hound, Moyashimon, Persona, Orphen, Witch Hunter Robin, Natsume Yuujinchou, Clannad, Gankutsuou, Darker than Black, Kyou Kara Maoh, and of course, Code Geass. My pretty much all time favorite is Gintama.
Mangas include DOGS, Black Cat, Reborn, X1999, Otomen, Kamui, almost anything by Kaori Yuki, Faerie's Landing, Loveless, Nora, Wild Adapter, E's, Heroes are EXTINCT, Nightmare Inspector, and The Young Magician.
Eh, heh, sorry for the long list. I'm practically an anime/manga database by now.
And yes, I've seen/read Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Hilarious shit there. My favorite part will forever be the very first chapter.

Gintama, what is Gintama about Blade - kun? I don't mind the long list, I'll refer back to it when I finish the animes I've started.

I just recently got my grubby little hands on the entire series of Ranma 1/2. Then my computer decided to stop playing it three episodes before the end of the first season. -_-

Gintama is, quite frankly, absolutely hysterical. It's a shounen series, but it's more comedy than action. Oh, there is fighting and they fights are awesome, but if you're looking for it to be like Bleach or Naruto, you'll be sadly mistaken (or happily, if you're sick of endless fighting.) I can't really describe it properly to you. Any summary I could come up with would probably be misleading and fall short.
Honestly, just watch the first 2 episodes. They're batched together as a one hour special premiere, and watching it will tell you quite frankly everything you can look forward to in the series, and lots more of it.
Trey: A friend of mine owns pretty much the entire Ranma 1/2 anime, and another has all the mangas. Ranma was one of the first 2 mangas I ever read, the other being X1999, and this was back in late grade school. And sometime after I started middle school, my parents discovered them. Nothing like being caught at the tender age of 13 with gore and practically porn.

Ha ha, I love you.
I don't have all of it either. I read it at my library, and so I skipped buying the first 6 volumes.
And Reborn is awesome. My favorites are Hibari and Gokudera.

I totally ship either Yama x Hibari or Yama x Gokudera, haha.

let's see. my suggestions to read would be... - vassalord - re:play - the embalmer - hellsing - The Umbrella Acadamey by Gerard Way - The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman
and if you want somethings that aren't manga but actual novels.... - "lost souls" by Poppy Z. Brite - "I, Lucifer" by Glen Duncan - "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman - Black Jewel novels, or the Eupherma series by Anne Bishop - Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon (be warned they are romance)
I've got more if anyone's interested. I read A LOT and wide variety of stuff, movies, anime, manga, novels and comics. Just let me know what knid of stuff you like and I can list off a bunch for you.

Misaki: Sorry, but I'm 1859 alllllllll the way. Maybe a little 8059 because my fav is so scarce.
Acilf: Most of those mangas are good favs, though the Sandman is something I haven't touched yet. Maybe now's a good opportunity.
As for the novels, a friend's pressing the Black Jewel series on me, but the rest I haven't heard much of. Thanks for the suggestions.
And do you like vampires?

Sandman's pretty good, considering it's an American comic. Then again, it's done by Neil Gaiman, so I'm not sure how you could go wrong there.
