I dunno. I think there's a hint of a Xanatos Gambit on TJ's side, though, with the way he played Hassan and Ira against each other. I don't think "I Have Your Wife" counts though, since TJ didn't technically have them. It was more of an "I know where you live" situation? There isn't a Trope for that.

I don't think that trope, nor Parental Abandonment really counts. Clyde was revealed as a girl because Remy saw her picture in the newspaper. This implies that Clyde's parents aren't just kicking back while their kid gallavants across the country - they're actively looking for her.

I...have a question...though I fear I'll sound very stupid.
What exactly is TVTropes? And what do we do for it? I'm not quite sure on what basis, and for what we're brainstorming.
I'm sorry, if you can tell me, I really want to help.

q, i just saw it in clover's post so i put it there. i feel like her brother may have something to do with the plot. so maybe the teensiest bit of orphan ordeal if her bro's death becomes plot-relevant? Light, TVTropes is a website that takes a story and analyzes the use of effective storytelling techniques. to quote from the home page, Chances are a few of your favorite shows/movies/mangas are on there (places that are blank white on an entry pages contain spoilers. You can highlight over them but as the Tropes appear in alphabetical and not Chronological order you may ruin things for yourself.) So basically, we're going through tropes and listing ones we think may apply to characters and situations in the comic. If you click on the links/Titles of the tropes you can read the entry for that tropes and what it means.

I don't think Clyde counts as any sort of orphan... she has parents that do care about her (remember her fretting over what they'd think of her new vampirism, as well as the aforementioned newspaper picture). I don't know if there's a dead big brother trope, though...
<Edit>
Maybe "Conveniently An Orphan" could be listed as suberted/averted? It looks like it applies until the big reveal, at least.

Sorry for the double post, but it's been a few days so yeah. I think I finally figured out what trope fits this page!! Would that be a Lampshade Hanging?I was troping again today and found about three tropes that could apply to Clyde's brother. Parental SubstitutePromotion to ParentBig Brother WorshipPersonally I'm voting for the last. The first does work with living parents, especially since Clyde looked up to her brother oh so much. The second would work if Clyde's mother or father were dead and the brother had to help around the house. The last, however, seems to fit much better - Clyde idolized her brother to the point that she's cosplaying as him to try and keep him alive. More tropes: Team Mom: Remy. Lampshaded by Murphy, though, when he points out that he's older than her.

Perhaps "Team Mom" can be listed as parodied and/or inverted?

i think that works best since it never got expanded on (not that it won't it's just... it's been a long year)
Also i read the comic over last night/this morning when i posted that and i can't believe i forgot how short of a time span it all actually was in. i miss this comic
OHOHOH!!!!!! Badass Long Coat/Bring Me My Red Jacket (possible in the second cause the vampirism could be his injury?) for Hassan

Gah! I was sucked into TVTropes for another two hours! -coughs- I think Bring My Red Jacket would work as well, though minorly subverted - Hassan wears the red jacket, yes, but he never actually has it on when he gets injured. As far as Badass Longcoat is concerned, Your Mileage may Vary.
