Haku twitches uncomfortably in his seat as Haishin tells the disturbing story yet again. Seeing it once was more than enough for him, he didn't need to be reminded on it. Especially when it gave him such a forboding feeling. No good would come of tracking the new threat, he just knew it.

((Shall we play a game of "Who can drag more of their charries into the DS RP"? Might be able to build a wonderfully diverse army if we tried. ^___^ ))

Syrin listened listened to the group chatting away over at the other table. He couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but it was an interesting group and he was ... interested. If they went, maybe he'd follow them -- at a distance.

Pelstos stumbled down the stairwell, interest perked at the sound of a smelly voice. "Haishin?" he slurred drunkenly, "Sthat jo0?"
Blinking, the drunken man, laughed, reeling over to the traveller and wrapping his arms around him, almost squishing the delicate body in white. "Long time no see buddy! What you been up to?"
At that moment, the tavern began to shake, a loud roar erupted from somewhere outside and all the windows went dark. Nick leapt over the bar in the darkness, the candles going out in the sudden gust. Throwing himself out the door, Nick stopped to look into the sunless sky, a large being, perhaps the size of eleven full grown lag'gars, blocked the sun, and most of the sky. Large wings helped cast a shadow over the entire valley of The Drunken Snake. It's height made it's shadow move slowly, almost at a crawl, it's wings staying erect, without beating, using all the thermals of the entire land to keep aloft.
Pelstos was seconds behind the bartender, his eyes following Nick's. "What the fuck is that thing?" The drunkard, now sobred to an extent, said above the volume of his normal voice in order for Nick to hear him, but the owner just stared at it, the large sillouette of a beast only the oldest and darkest legends knew, legends that were no longer known by even the oldest beings alive except for small bits of information surfacing every hundred or so years.
And as the beast moved through the thirteenth realm, it headed north, and soon faded off into the horizon. Pelstos whirrled around in time to see Haishin standing behind him.
Haishin's face was stern, determined. "Nick, I'm borrowing your horse." With that, the man strode purposefully to the tavern's stables and dissapeared inside. Nick just gaped at the northern horizon, for he knew it was impossible, unlike most people, for anything to go north, and not immediately come from the south, for the thirteenth realm was a loop, all horizons connected at the top of each mountain.

The amused smirk on Roha's face, placed there from Pelstos' antics, was wiped away instantly as the beast appeared. Fine black hairs stood on end to double the size of her already large tail, ears perked high to absorb every possible sound from the direction of the impressive shadow. Her once occupied chair is knocked away beneath a table, abandoned in the rush to join Pelstos and Nick.
"What in the name of the Nine Goddesses...?" she growled to herself, ivory fangs bared instinctively at the unknown threat.
As Haishin raced past Nick toward the stables, Haku followed swiftly; all traces of his timid demeanor vanished as his precious scythe leapt into his waiting hands. Floppy white rabbit ears focused on the light footfalls on his companion, his only way of determining where Haishin was going as the younger demon's vision was clogged with gruesome visions of death and destruction.
The barrage of visions disappeared as his nose was assaulted by the scent of hay and horses. With Nick's horse passing, Haishin atop its broad back, Haku hurled himself upon a conveniently saddled mountain pony, the only other mount in the stable. Sending a prayer of thanks to any listening deities for bringing a tavern patron on horseback to the Drunken Snake, Haku dug his heels into the beast's sides, urging it after the quickly vanishing tail of its fellow animal.
Although wishing to tail the two mercenaries, Roha waited impatiently outside the tavern for Pelstos. She a split second, she permitted herself a sense of both minor regret and relative amusement at the bit of destruction she'd already caused. For, laying in the snow, was the newly repaired tavern door, torn from its hinges by the rushing force of the demon form she currently occupied. Sure, she could have waited another second to shift into her true form--that of an ebon wolf larger than any war-steed, a pair of equally black feathered wings resting folded along her back--but tearing down part of a wall always got her energized.
Glowing sapphire eyes fixed on the hole now serving as a doorway, she called out in an impatient voice, "Move it, priest! There are no horses left, so go with me or remain behind!"
((ZOMG I roleplayed!))

Nick shook his head, then he did something so strange, it took Pelstos aback.
"The leviathan... it has reborn itself once more." The bartender spoke above a whisper, his voice carrying far in the silence following the beast's wake, for not a bird sung, nor any animal or plant made a noise.
The drunkard blinked, for he himself had heard the myths, which all knew to be untrue, of the leviathan. That this greatest of beasts would enter the world to destroy an entire species at a time. Although he knew not how it would stop, assuming that it died or was slein, Pelstos knew that he had been all over the thirteen realms, and he had never seen such a beast's carcas.
Nick spoke up once more, "My friends, I fear that we have little time. And are in desperate need of a Person of Lore. I have heard from the many people passing through, that whenever they went to a Person of Lore that could not inform them of their questions, they were always told of the one who did not learn Lore from others, but saw it in dreams, and read about it in ancient scrolls long lost. They told me the riddle that the Lorefolk would always give. 'On the greatest of seas, always hunting the depths, dreams find more than treasure, all knowledge seeked.'" The bartender shrugged, "Now's as good a time as any, any ideas?"

Roha stared in absolute surprise at Nick as she forced herself to remain serious by keeping her thoughts to herself. 'He can talk?!'
"If all that's true, and we have nothing evident to denounce it, then we have no option but to find this Person of Lore," Roha stated as she entered the disassembled tavern again, no longer in her wolf-form. Absentmindedly kicking a piece of splintered wood from her path, she gazed levelly at Pelstos. "The greatest of seas would suggest the realm of Narcie, correct? I don't know of any ocean greater than a world made entirely of it." As she crossed her arms in her typical haughty stance, she smirked in challenge. "Last one to find the Person of Lore buys a round of Nick's priciest ale when we get back!"
Sticking her tongue out childishly at the priest, Roha turned and walked at a steady pace to the gathering of gates, one of which would lead them to the being they sought.
((Squee! One day 'til I'm 19! *dance, dance, dance*))
